The Play is The Thing


Plays at our convention have been a big hit, and we're looking to continue the tradition in 2020 with a production of our own - but we need your help!

We are proud to announce CONsole Room's first ever Doctor Who-themed playwriting contest! The winning submission will be produced as a live stage play to be performed at CONsole Room 2020 on the Main Stage on Friday evening.

PLEASE NOTE: Scripts must be submitted via the link below no later than MIDNIGHT central time on August 31, 2019.

DISCLAIMER

By participating in this contest, entrants agree to be bound by these official rules and to any and all CONsole Room decisions on all matters relating to the contest. All entrants grant CONsole Room exclusive rights to produce the play for a live performance on January 17, 2020. Beginning on January 20, 2020, all rights revert back to the playwright.

TIMELINE

All contest days begin at 12:00 AM CDT and end at 11:59 PM CDT.

Submission Period: June 18, 2019 - August 31, 2019

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Plays must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have a running time between 45 and 75 minutes.
  • Minimal set requirements and a maximum of one scene change.
  • Must be able to be performed with 3-6 actors. More roles are possible as long as one actor can play multiple roles.
  • Must be related to Doctor Who or the Doctor Who universe in some way. Characters in the play may be characters that have appeared on the program or may be new characters. Doctor-light stories are also acceptable.
  • Scripts may be serious, comedic, or satirical in nature.
  • Scripts must be family friendly (PG or G). Entries containing graphic material, nudity, or copious amounts of violence will be disqualified at CONsole Room's discretion.

Entries not meeting these requirements may be disqualified. CONsole Room reserves the right to disqualify any script at its sole discretion.
