New Featured Guest: Jennifer Adams Kelley

We are pleased to announce that Jennifer Adams Kelley will be attending CONsole Room 2017 as a Featured Guest!

JENNIFER ADAMS KELLEY discovered Doctor Who her senior year in high school (1981), and the show has molded her adult life. She ties life milestones in with what was going on vis a vis Doctor Who and the show’s fannish events she participated in. She plans trips around Doctor Who exhibitions and events. Her skills and hobbies—writing, filmmaking, website designing, and costuming—come in use when creating fan films, Doctor Who-related websites, and cosplay.

A 1985 graduate of Northwestern University (B.S. Speech, double-major in radio/tv/film and Creative Writing for the Media), Jennifer worked in customer service and marketing prior to tackling the full-time job of raising a child. Since said child now attends college, Jennifer divides her time between book promotion, Gallifrey Base (which she partly owns), and personal projects. She has essays in Chicks Dig Time Lords, Companion Piece, Outside In, Outside In 2, Outside In Boldly Goes, and the forthcoming Outside In Makes It So.  Jennifer also served as Masquerade Director/Special Events Manager for HME Visions (1990-1998) and Programming Director of Chicago TARDIS (2000-2017), and currently runs the Gallifrey One Masquerade of Mandragora. She was also named Fan of the Year by the Friends of Doctor Who in 1996.

YogaQuest Returns to CONsole Room!

Get ready to fold, twist, and bridge your way through the galaxy with YogaQuest at CONsole Room 2017! Your  quest will be guided by a narrator and a certified yoga instructor, as the class embarks on an epic, and often ridiculous, journey through Doctor Who fandom. Move through the story by following a yoga routine designed to improve strength, balance, and flexibility. No previous yoga experience, special clothing, or mats necessary!

YogaQuest is a unique and dynamic wellness business that is blazing a trail for those outside the mainstream – geeks, nerds, and anybody who has experienced gym trauma – to engage with wellness on their own terms. Both in studio and through outreach, YogaQuest challenges traditional wellness narratives to make self-care more accessible and fun for all. With narrated yoga classes that incorporate movement and fan-fiction storytelling, as well as discussion panels focused on making wellness one’s own – rather than conforming to mainstream wellness narratives – YogaQuest presents a radical alternative to mainstream wellness spaces.

YogaQuest is pleased to have a vibrant online community, online content for home practice, and the opportunity to engage with the geek community at both fan-run and larger pop culture conventions across the country. Their Narrated Yogic Adventures and discussion panels have been featured at New York Comic Con (NYCC), Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC), and at Wizard World Comic Cons in Minneapolis, Chicago and Philadelphia. YogaQuest has been featured in such publications as: The Wall Street Journal, YogaInternational, Geek & Sundry, and Atlas Obscura. YogaQuest maintains a studio in Minneapolis that offers regular classes, workshops, and teacher trainings.

New Featured Guest: Dave Schrader

We’re pleased to announce that Dave Schrader will be joining us as a Featured Guest at CONsole Room this year!

DAVE SCHRADER is the host of the wildly popular and internationally heard Darkness Radio Presents: Beyond the Darkness. Darkness Radio is about to enter its 10th year on the air and is considered to be the most popular paranormal themed talk shows on the air following Coast to Coast AM which Dave has also been a recurrent fill-in host exposing his show to about 15 million listeners world-wide.

Dave co-wrote the book The Other Side: A Teen’s Guide to Ghost Hunting and the Paranormal, was the lead judge on the Travel Channel hit mini-series Paranormal Challenge and has appeared on Travel Channel’s #1 series, Ghost Adventures 6 times and Paranormal State on A&E.

He is joined by listeners around the globe on these adventures and is a popular and sought after public speaker on all aspects of the Paranormal. Dave travels the world investigating claims of the paranormal, from the historic and haunted battlefields of Gettysburg to Romania following in the footsteps of the real Dracula to Scotland in search of the Loch Monster and beyond.
