In Need of a Few Good Panelists

We’re less than a month out from CONsole Room 2014! We know – we can’t believe it either! We’re working hard on our programming and, in reviewing our panel list, we saw that we could use some additional panelists. Specifically, we’re looking for folks who are willing to be on the following panels:

  • Dishin’ on DVDs (and Blu-rays, too!)
  • Ephemera – Peter Cushing & Beyond
  • Doctor Who in Glorious Black-and-White
  • Crazy for Cosplay
  • Fantastic! – Nine Years Since Eccleston
  • Weeping Angels, Sontarans, and Drashigs – Oh My! Who Are Your Favorite Baddies?
  • Sherlocked
  • Diggin’ on Downton Abbey
  • Understanding Canon in Who
  • Allons-y! – David Tennant’s Impact on Who
  • Music and Who
  • Can’t Wait for Capaldi!
  • DWM – Worth a Read?
  • Animating Missing Episodes
  • They Keep on Coming – All About the Daleks

If you are willing to join us on one (or more than one!) of these panels, please e-mail us at programming@console-room.mpls.cx. We’re really close to finalizing our programming content, so the sooner you can let us know, the better.

See you all in just over three weeks!

Hugo Nominees at CONsole Room 2014

The 2014 Hugo nominations came out today and we’re pleased as punch to see that Queers Dig Time Lords: A Celebration of Doctor Who by the LGBTQ Fans Who Love It was nominated in the Best Related Work category! The book is published by Mad Norwegian Press, whose editor-in-chief is CONsole Room 2014 guest Lars Pearson, and also features an essay by our chairperson, Jason Tucker. You can meet them both in person in Minneapolis next month!

Extra, Extra! Pre-Reg & Hotel Room Block Extended!

Although yesterday was the scheduled end of pre-registration and tomorrow is when our room block is supposed to close, we’re happy to announce that we have extended the dates for both! The new information is as follows:

  • Pre-registration is open for an additional TWO WEEKS, so it will now close at the end of the day on Wednesday, 30 April.
  • The hotel room block will be open for as long as possible, but we can’t guarantee the number of rooms available at the $94/night rate. They will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

So if you have registered or gotten your hotel room yet, be sure to do so in the next two weeks! Even if you’re from the Twin Cities metro, consider booking a room so you don’t miss out on any of the evening programming and events. Head over to the Registration and Hotel pages to ensure you’re booked up for what promises to be a fantastic weekend.

See you one month from TODAY!
