COVID-19 Policies & Practices

Updated: December 3, 2023

The health and safety of our attendees, and community at large, is of the utmost importance to us. While our intent is to create a balance of safety and comfort for our attendees, we understand that the preference is to prioritize personal choice. We are also mindful of the impact COVID continues to have on the world around us. As such, please note the safety guidelines for in-person attendees of our 2024 convention:

  • We strongly recommend that all in-person attendees ages 3 and up wear a mask covering their nose and mouth in convention areas. Masks have been proven to be an effective mitigation tactic for COVID and other diseases. We recommend viewing the CDC's guidance on effective masks for guidance. We will have masks available at registration for anyone who would like one but does not have one.

  • We strongly encourage ensuring you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 but will not be checking for proof of vaccination at badge pickup this year. The CDC has guidelines on what is considered fully vaccinated, for your reference.

  • We strongly encourage testing for COVID-19 to receive a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of your attendance in person at CONsole Room. Additionally, if you are sick, we ask that you please stay home. All in person memberships include full access to our virtual and hybrid offerings. If you are no longer able to join us in person, you will still be able to participate virtually.

  • We are evaluating layouts of our physical space to help support a safer in-person experience. This could include additional space between chairs in programming spaces, sanitization availability, and more.

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By attending the CONsole Room convention in person, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and other illnesses.

We are continuing to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in our communities and utilize data and guidance from state and world governing health systems. We will continue to update these policies as needed.

Harassment Policy

CONsole Room is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable convention experience for everyone. Harassment of any kind, including physical assault, battery, deliberate intimidation, stalking, or unwelcome physical attentions, will not be tolerated. If people tell you “no” or to leave them alone, your business with them is done.

Leave them alone. Do not follow them or attempt to disrupt their convention experience in any way. If you continue to attempt to have contact with those people, you may be removed from the premises.

CONsole Room is not responsible for solving any interpersonal problems that may arise between individual members. In general, we can take no action to prevent a person from attending the convention unless that person has made a specific and credible threat toward the convention itself. If you feel that a threat exists against your person, we advise you to seek a restraining order against the individual in question and to involve the host hotel itself (security staff specifically) and the municipal police department in advance of the convention; otherwise, we recommend simply avoiding that individual.

If that individual stalks, harasses, or attempts to assault you at the convention itself, you may report that individual to a CONsole Room staff member (they will report it to the hotel’s security staff, who will get the police involved if necessary) or you may report it to hotel security directly, and the appropriate action will be taken. Conversely, any attempt to have an innocent person removed from the convention by falsely accusing him or her of threats will be itself treated as an act of harassment and will be dealt with appropriately. The responsibility for settling interpersonal disputes lies solely with the individuals involved, and CONsole Room will not tolerate being used as a leveraging point in such disputes attending the convention unless that person has made a specific and credible threat toward the convention itself. As stated above, if you feel that a threat exists against your person, we advise you to seek a restraining order against the individual in question and to involve the host hotel itself (security staff specifically) and the municipal police department in advance of the convention; otherwise, we recommend simply avoiding that individual.

Big thanks to our friends at CONvergence for allowing our adoption of this policy!
